WHAT IS GASTROINTESTINAL ILLNESS?

 


Gastrointestinal (GI) illness is instigated by a series of dissimilar disease-causing microbes or germs that can be acquired by consuming contaminated food or beverages, contact with contaminated recreational water, infected animals or their surroundings, or infected people. These microbes can affect a range of indications, such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, abdominal cramps, fever and occasionally headaches, rash and paralysis.

Numerous different disease-causing germs can contaminate foods, so there are several different foodborne infections. Investigators have recognized more than 250 foodborne diseases. Most of them are infections, instigated by a range of bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Harmful toxins and chemicals too can contaminate foods and result in foodborne illness. Common indications of foodborne diseases are nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. However, symptoms may vary amongst the different types of foodborne diseases. Symptoms at times are severe, and some foodborne illnesses can even be life-threatening.
